Agroforesty organic small farm in the beautiful Jequitinhonha Valley
Minas Gerais
Hello! My name is Vlad and I am an italian farmer who moved to Brasil two years ago, since i met this beautiful place , the Jequitinhonha Valley I understood that I belonged here. The "Cerrado" ecosystem, similar to the Savana is just magic, so much biodiversity, so resilient to the lack of rain.
I studied syntrophic agroforesty for many years and I had several experiences all around the world, then i decided to build my own farm here and the aim is to regenerate this land threatened by the Eucalyptus monoculture. I am part of the group of organic farmers of the region, and I live alone with a dog and a cat and tons of wild animals.
According to the period the work can be different, during the rainy season I take advantage of the soft soil to plant new agroforestry systems with the main focus on coffee plants, on Saturday I sell my products at the local market and when i have spare time i make some reforms at the house. To the Woofers I can teach how to plan, design and plant an agroforest system according to the objectives and the country.
Woofers will have their own room, every day fresh organic food is served, there is also a bakery oven where I like to make fresh bread and pizza, occasionally meat is served also.
The farm is surrounded by native forest and is close to the Araçuaí river with a very nice sandy beach. Turmalina is only 12 km from the farm and I go there at least twice per week, it's a very special and traditional region of the countryside of Mina Gerais, People are very nice and there are a lot of public events.

I had an amazing experience volunteering with Vlad! He was so willing to share his knowledge about syntropic farming and taught me so much during the 7 weeks I was there. He also was a part of a farming group that allowed me to visit so many other farms and I really felt like I was part of the community there even though I couldn’t speak any Portuguese. The community is so friendly and helpful to each other it was so beautiful to see. Vlad is also a chef and cooked the most delicious organic food. I’m so grateful to have had such a chill and caring environment as my first woofing experience. I will miss his farm so much, thank you Vlad!
