WWOOF in Brazil

WWOOF Brasil is the national organization helping to create local WWOOFing opportunities in Brazil and to promote sustainable farming as a lifestyle.

Visitors, or 'WWOOFers', share in daily life with their host and learn about organic agriculture, while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm.

I had an amazing time! Lilo is such a warm and kind person, with an incredible knowledge of the animals and plants in the surrounding area. I learned so much from him and gained a truly authentic insight into his work. The bees, in particular, were absolutely fascinating and adorable. The farm is beautifully located right in the middle of the forest, which only adds to its charm. You’re constantly surrounded by nature and get to see so many different animals — it’s a really special experience. And I would definitely visit again! Thanks Lilo for everything!

A lovely farm with friendly people and animals. The village and its shop are within easy reach, and there’s plenty of time to explore alongside work. :)

I have wwoofed on multiple farms and working at Conrado’s place was one of my best experiences! I worked with Conrado and his team for a month and had the opportunity to learn about making a variety of dairy products and got to work outside on the farm grounds. Everyone at the farm was extremely welcoming, kind, hard working people who were very patient with me even though I didn’t speak Portuguese. I also had the pleasure of meeting Conrado’s family, who were so accommodating and lovely people who made my stay even better! The accommodation is really pleasant on the farm. I had my own little house with amazing views of the mountains and animals. The people and landscape of this farm is truly something special and I hope to return again. I would highly recommend this place in a heartbeat!

We spent over a month at the Ecovila Paineira, which was our first volunteering experience in Brazil with WWOOF. We simply loved our time there, and we recommend it to anyone considering volunteering there for many reasons. Beyond the practicalities (which are essential) – like food, accommodation, and support from the hosts – this has been a learning and grounding experience as we witnessed the early journey of an intentional, rural, productive settlement that is establishing itself on the outskirts of Botucatu. Our temporary contribution to the development of the project felt meaningful and never overwhelming. We had the opportunity to immerse ourselves both in the organisational part of the community (participating in community meetings and events) and in the networking side (joining initiatives in collaboration with the university and the MST). We met great people there, to whom we wish all the success and growth they deserve. Special thanks to Rodrigo and Bia, who, in addition to being great hosts, we are now proud to call our friends. To anyone thinking of going there, we recommend a period of at least two months. You will not be disappointed.

I was a little bit nervous before arriving, given that I was the only volunteer. One week later I left as a friend with a lot of newly acquired experiences and knowledge: Palmas really took time to introduce me to his garden, his philosophy of reducing ecological footprint while carefully trying to spread awareness within the community and his refreshing attitude towards time: be it cutting the grass, buying milk from the neighbors or baking bread - no need to rush. Still, we woke up pretty early and had a clear idea on what we wanted to achieve. If your up for building connection to an inspiring human being and this very beautiful place without a lot of additional social encounters, I’m sure you will have a wonderful time!!

Maromba’s place is absolutely amazing in every possible way. We can't recommend it more, regardless if this is your first wwoofing experience, if you travel alone or as a family (as we did). Maromba, the host and owner of the land is an absolutely lovely person of the great heart, infinite virtues and skills. We worked together on different tasks depending on priorities and the weather. Staying in his place is not only about work, but learning, getting experience, enjoying and seeing and understanding the nature around. This area has a lot to offer (waterfalls, variety of plants, animals). We were making compost, preparing land for coffee plants, doing fences in green house, getting wood and many other things with bamboo (treehouse). We met amazing people there, making our stay even more valuable. Last but definitely not least, Maromba is a great cook and prepares the food for wwoofers, which is extraordinary. We already missed it a lot. Maromba, experience we had at your place was one in a lifetime. We loved it and we can't thank you enough!
