Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) links visitors with organic farmers, promotes an educational and cultural exchange and builds a global community conscious of ecological farming practices.

WWOOF was founded in 1971 and is one of the world’s first educational and cultural exchange programs. Today, WWOOF is in more than 132 countries around the world (and growing).

WWOOF Brasil is the national organization helping to create local WWOOFing opportunities in Brazil and to promote sustainable farming as a lifestyle.

Visitors, or 'WWOOFers', share in daily life with their host and learn about organic agriculture, while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm.

I've spent 2 incredible weeks in Sítio Sou. Pedro and Giulia are awesome people that really cares about doing something better and they know a lot about agroforestry, agriculture and the environment in general. They always take time to teach you things about the farm but also about the place. Also I highly recommend to go to Teresópolis during the weekend to do hikes (Pedra do Sina), it's really worth it ! Muito obrigada pra tudo amigos, aprendi muito com vocês e sorte pra seus projetos!

Thank you so much, Maromba! I can recommend this place to anyone who is willing to put in a lot of energy to gain many wonderful memories of this amazing place. The time I spent with Maromba at the foot of the national park was absolutely idyllic for me! It was so educational, meaningful, balanced, varied and also adventurous. From the very beginning, I felt welcome and useful. We really had a cultural exchange and Maromba took so much time to answer all my questions about nature and wildlife. He is an absolutely fabulous chef, especially when it comes to Brazilian dishes made with local ingredients. There is so much to discover in the surrounding area! Countless waterfalls and pools in the rivers to swim in, a village (only 5-10 minutes away by bike) with lots of small cafés, restaurants and shops and open-hearted, wonderful people. I was invited by the people in the village to join in activities (despite my very limited knowledge of Portuguese)! I wish you all the best, Maromba, and I would love to come back to your place to learn even more about nature and life.

La estadia con Michel, capuchina y lobo fue un abrazo en mi viaje por Brasil. Michel es alguien con una ética y amor hacia los nuevos sistemas ecosociales. Un lugar que busca dialogar con la potencia de repensar-nos profundamente. El amor y la disciplina con la que Michel cuida de Desperto (y sus habitantes humanos y más que humanos) es admirable, y dicha dedicación se ve reflejada en su organización de la estadía; una mezcla de estructura y apertura a los cambios. Un intercambio de sentipensares que recordaré por mucho tiempo.

The accommodation is basic, but it has everything you need. The work is varied, and Pedro gives a good introduction. I had a lot of fun, even though I was there when there were no other volunteers.

We couldn‘t have wished for a better start of our journey in brasil. If you are looking for a place to enjoy the nature and learn about agrofloresta this is the perfect spot. Tao is such an amazing teacher and always found a way to explain even tho we didn‘t speak a word of portuguese. Everyone who is working at the farm is really nice and you can tell they love and know what they are doing. Anna and Tao are very kind and fun people and we always felt very welcome. Not only did they show us their farm but also took us to beautiful waterfalls and even learned us how to dance. We had the best time and would come back anytime! We are forever thankful that we got to know Cerrado and could eat the best mangos of our life!

O lugar é sensacional, existem várias trilhas para cachoeiras, onde algumas vezes tive a companhia dos cachorros da fazenda, que ficam muito alegres em poder acompanhar nos passeios. Uriel possui amplo conhecimento em Agroecologia e está sempre disposto a compartilhar. Tive a oportunidade de conhecer na prática o funcionamento de uma fazenda orgânica e ainda um pouco sobre eco turismo. Me foi oferecida toda a alimentação necessária, inclusive respeitando e atendendo a minha dieta vegana. Conforme combinado, ofereceram transporte gratuito até a fazenda e depois, ao término do projeto, até a cidade. Gostaria de agradecer ao Uriel e à toda a equipe da Fazendo Berço das Águas. Foi uma experiência de vida valiosa passar esse tempo com vocês. Desejo muito sucesso à todos!

I stayed about ten days with Luiz and it was honestly amazing! Luiz is super patient, really kind, and loves sharing his knowledge. The farm and the area are absolutely beautiful. The work was super varied and Luiz is always open to your interests and ideas. The vibe was great, meals together were always such fun moments! The dogs are adorable, and Luiz even took us to visit his beekeeper friend, which was such a cool experience. I totally recommend this place, don’t hesitate! Thanks again Luiz, and all the best!! :)
